Holy Week at Niles Discovery Church, 255 H St., Fremont

Palm Sunday Service, April 1, at 10-11 AM

The service will begin with a Palm Processional; children and youth who want to participate in this should assemble at the Bell in the courtyard before the worship service.  The choir will present their Easter Cantata.

Maundy Thursday Service, April 5,at 6:00-8:00 PM

@ Little Brown Church, 121 Kilkare Rd., Sunol

Join members of four other UCC congregations at Little Brown Church to mark the evening of Jesus’ last supper and his arrest.  The evening will begin at 6:00 with a simple soup supper.  Then, at 7:00, we will move into the sanctuary for communion and the meditative service of Tenebrae.

Good Friday Service, April 6, at 7:30-8:30 PM

Join members from four other UCC congregations to remember Jesus’ trial, crucifixion, and burial.  Note:  this is the location of our “future home.”

Easter Sunrise Service, April 8, at 6:30-7:30 AM

@ Niles Town Plaza, Niles Blvd and I St, Fremont

Niles Discovery Church is sponsoring an outdoor Easter Sunrise service for the community.  The service will take place at the Train Station in the Niles Town Plaza.

Easter Festival Service, April 8, at 10:00-11:00 AM

We will gather at our regular Sunday worship time to celebrate the holiest day of the year, Easter.

Holy Week at Eden United Church of Christ, 21455 Birch Street,  Hayward

Palm Sunday, April 1, at 10 AM

We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism, receive new members, and march in a Palm Parade from the Sanctuary into Oliver Hall.

Maundy Thursday, Apr. 5,at 7PM in Pioneer Chapel

Traditional service, including the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The liturgy will also feature spirituals and hymns, selections from the Holy Week lection, and the Eden choir singing “Adoramus te,” from the Seven Last Words of Christ by Théodore Dubois.

Good Friday Labyrinth Walk, April 6, at 6 PM

Our walk commemorates the Stations of the Cross and will be led by the Education and Spiritual Life Team. Please enter through the church narthex and follow directions to the courtyard.

Festival Easter service, April 8, at 10 AM

Features an Easter homily by Rev. Arlene Nehring based on Mark’s gospel, the Eden choir’s singing of “Hodie mecum eris” from Théodore Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Arrive 15 minutes early and enjoy the Easter Sunday Preludes. Children will be excused during the sermon for Easter basket decorating, and return during the offering to participate in communion with their families. A children’s Easter egg hunt will commence in the Courtyard following the Postlude.

Palm to Passion Sunday, April 1 at 10am

Pastor Christy leads a service of Communion and readings that takes us from the Protest of Palms through the Lord’s Supper and Golgatha.
Maundy Thursday, April 5 at 7:30pm

Shared service with Clayton Valley Presbyterian at 1578 Kirker Pass Road, Clayton. A labyrinth will be available to walk beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday,  April 6 at 12pm

“Seven Last Words” service with other East County clergy at a special Ecumenical Good Friday service at St. Ignatius Church, 3351 Contra Loma Boulevard, Antioch

Easter, April 8

7:30 a.m. – Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service, John Henry Johnson Park, Pittsburg (west of the Golf Course on Leland Road)

10 a.m. – Easter Worship Celebration at East County Shared Ministry with children “flowering the cross” during the children’s time. After worship, children are invited to our annual Easter Egg hunt.
