The Coalition of Welcoming Congregations (CWC) of the Bay Area is pleased to host a retreat for clergy and lay leaders to gather for networking, education and strategizing on best practices on LGBTQI inclusion into their places of worship.
Lunch is provided.
Participants can earn continuing education credit (CEU’s) and will receive a Tool Kit that includes resources for welcoming congregations.
Whether you have been a welcoming congregation for years or are interested in beginning the process, you do not want to miss this engaging retreat!
Presenters include:
- Luncheon Key Note presenter Bishop Yvette Flunder of City of Refuge UCC and The Fellowship addressing Radical Inclusion
- Life Span Education with Caitlin Ryan of the Family Acceptance Project at SF State presenting her research on the impact congregations have on LGBTQI Youth and Amber Hollibaugh of Queers for Economic Justice giving a preview of her work with LGBTQI Seniors which will be presented at Faith and Aging: A Conference for LGBTQI Spiritual Justice
- Local clergy share their lessons on creating welcoming congregations and dealing with resistance from others
- Meet and strategize with other leaders in your region of the Bay Area during our cluster session led by CWC Board Members
- Music for worship and meditation provided by Stephanie Smith
