The CLGS Coalition of Welcoming Congregations (CWC) brings together religious leaders, LGBT people of faith and their allies from a wide range of religious traditions in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area to form a progressive, effective and media-savvy voice on matters relating to sexuality and religion, homophobia, and the enfranchisement of LGBT people within society as a whole. By creating a strong network of congregations and local faith communities of various religious traditions and denominations throughout the Bay Area, the CWC connects local religious leaders, religious congregations/communities, and individuals of faith who are highly motivated to act as agents of positive social change. In addition, the CWC provides a powerful tool for like-minded individuals to ally themselves with other LGBT people of faith and their allies and to make known their views in the current public debates concerning religion, sexuality, and LGBT people.  www.cwcbay.org

United Methodist Church, 1620 Anderson Road, Davis CA.

The Reconciling Congregation Committee in Conjunction with PFLAG present the film: Bullied: A student, a school, and a case that made history. This film, produced by Teaching Tolerance, tells an inspiring story of a young gay man who after years of suffering bulling for his sexual orientation took a stand. He went to court and fought for the right to be safe at school, even if you are gay. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Roses Strike of 1912, a historic demonstration of families in the textile industry joining forces for fair treatment in the workplace. Passover recalls a time when we were not free to provide for our families. During this Seder we celebrate our shared goal of economic justice for families with spirited song, storytelling and a delicious kosher meal. All are welcome.

Storyteller to speak at Holocaust Remembrance Service

The Tri-City Interfaith Council’s invites the public to attend their annual Holocaust Remembrance Service.This year, traveling storyteller and author Joel ben Izzy will be the featured speaker.  In a world with fewer survivors left each year to recount their tales, each of us becomes heir to their stories.  This is the first time that the service will feature a guest speaker who is not a Holocaust Survivor.

Maundy Thursday Service, April 5,at 6:00-8:00 PM

Join members of four other UCC congregations at Little Brown Church to mark the evening of Jesus’ last supper and his arrest.  The evening will begin at 6:00 with a simple soup supper.  Then, at 7:00, we will move into the sanctuary for communion and the meditative service of Tenebrae.

Join members from four other UCC congregations to remember Jesus’ trial, crucifixion, and burial.  Note:  this is the location of our “future home.”

We will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism, receive new members, and march in a Palm Parade from the Sanctuary into Oliver Hall.

Traditional service, including the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The liturgy will also feature spirituals and hymns, selections from the Holy Week lection, and the Eden choir singing “Adoramus te,” from the Seven Last Words of Christ by Théodore Dubois.

Good Friday Labyrinth Walk, April 6, at 6 PM

Our walk commemorates the Stations of the Cross and will be led by the Education and Spiritual Life Team. Please enter through the church narthex and follow directions to the courtyard.

Festival Easter service, April 8, at 10 AM

Features an Easter homily by Rev. Arlene Nehring based on Mark’s gospel, the Eden choir’s singing of “Hodie mecum eris” from Théodore Dubois’ Seven Last Words of Christ, and the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Arrive 15 minutes early and enjoy the Easter Sunday Preludes. Children will be excused during the sermon for Easter basket decorating, and return during the offering to participate in communion with their families. A children’s Easter egg hunt will commence in the Courtyard following the Postlude.

10 a.m. – Easter Worship Celebration at East County Shared Ministry with children “flowering the cross” during the children’s time. After worship, children are invited to our annual Easter Egg hunt.
